NSCN-IM marks Th Muivah's 60 years of service for the Naga 'nation'

Kohima: Isak-Muivah led Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) on Saturday celebrated the general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah’s 60-years dedication to dedication to cause of the Naga “nation”.

A celebration was held at the Camp Hebron in Peren district.

In a heartfelt message, NSCN-IM Chairman Q Tuccu extended warm wishes, acknowledging Muivah’s six decades of unwavering service to the Naga people.

“By any standard 60 years is no mean achievement for any person who has given his everything for the Naga political issue, to take up the challenge that Nagas are not lost people.  You spare no effort to work on this line and the world knows too well how you have gone through “blood sweat and tears” to save the Naga nation from being thrown into oblivion,” Tuccu said.

Tuccu’s message expressed profound gratitude for Muivah’s tireless efforts over the years, highlighting his instrumental role in shaping the Naga political landscape.

Muivah’s relentless commitment to the Naga cause, spanning six decades, was hailed as a remarkable achievement by Tuccu, emphasising the significance of his steadfast determination in asserting the Naga identity.

His message recounted Muivah’s pivotal contributions, tracing back to his mission in China during the 1960s and 1970s, and his subsequent international campaign in the early 1990s, which led to the group’s recognition as a bona fide member of the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO) in 1993.

“Since then you have left no stone unturned cultivating the political legitimacy of the Naga nation. Along with our late chairman Isak Chishi Swu, you achieved another milestone when you signed the historic Framework Agreement with the government of India in August 3, 2015,” Tuccu said.

He said that the Naga people will remain indebted to Muivah for years to come for defending the sovereignty identity of the Naga nation.

Muivah’s visionary leadership in the Naga political movement was hailed as transformative as it elevated the NSCN-IM as the torchbearer of the Naga political movement.

“It was because of your brand of revolutionary leadership that the governments of India take notice of the Naga issue from correct perspective,” Tuccu said.

As Muivah celebrated nine decades of life and six decades of visionary leadership, Tuccu’s message concluded with a call to praise the Lord for blessing Muivah with a long and fulfilling life, characterised by divinely ordained leadership.
