Kohima: In a significant development towards enhancing Nagaland’s science education and research, the state has acquired 200 acres of land to establish an Indian Institute of Science Education & Research (IISER).
“In a move which will have a far reaching and decisive impact on the higher education landscape in our State, we are actively pursuing with the Central Government for setting up an Indian Institute of Science Education & Research (IISER) in Nagaland,” Nagaland governor La Ganesan said in his address on the first day of the ongoing Assembly session.
The head of the state observed that an institute like IISER could give the State a national institute of importance.

Such an institute, he said, would immensely help in promoting science and maths education, and research in Nagaland.
“We have acquired about 200 acres of prime land at a very well connected location in Sukhovi, Chumoukedima district for setting up the lISER,” he told the August house.
