Aizawl: Serchhip and Champhai districts have completed the digitisation of Enumeration Forms (EFs) under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 of electoral rolls in Mizoram, marking a key milestone in the Election Commission’s voter verification exercise.
The digitisation process in Serchhip district was completed late on June 17, while Champhai district finished the exercise at around 8 pm the same day.
Serchhip district, which comprises the 26-Serchhip (ST), 27-Tuikum (ST) and 28-Hrangturzo (ST) Assembly constituencies, has a total electorate of 55,389 voters. During the exercise, 1,184 cases were identified as uncollectable, including deceased voters, untraceable or absent electors, permanently shifted individuals, duplicate entries and persons who declined to sign the Enumeration Form.
The enumeration process began on May 30, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) carrying out door-to-door distribution and collection of forms. Despite adverse weather, difficult terrain and scattered settlements, officials said the exercise was completed successfully on June 17 after verification and digitisation of the collected forms.
Meanwhile, Champhai district, covering the 23-Champhai North, 24-Champhai South and 25-East Tuipui Assembly constituencies, recorded a total electorate of 58,846 voters.
Of these, 56,450 Enumeration Forms, or 95.93 per cent, were collected and digitised, while 2,396 cases (4.07 per cent) were categorised as uncollectible due to voters being absent, shifted, deceased or listed as duplicates.
Champhai South, the district’s largest constituency with 22,443 voters, recorded collection of 21,412 forms, representing 95.41 per cent of the electorate. Champhai North collected 19,572 forms (95.78 per cent) from its 20,435 voters, while East Tuipui collected 15,466 forms (96.86 per cent) out of 15,968 electors.
District Election officials in both districts credited the successful completion of the exercise to the coordinated efforts of election staff, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), BLOs, Booth Level Agents (BLAs), civil society organisations, political parties, community leaders and members of the media.
Serchhip District Election Officer Paul L. Khuma thanked all stakeholders for their support and cooperation in carrying out the revision exercise, while officials in Champhai also acknowledged the contribution of election personnel, NGOs, political parties, the press and local influencers.
The Special Intensive Revision exercise, which began on May 30, will continue until June 28. The process also includes rationalisation of polling stations with more than 1,200 voters.
According to the election schedule, the draft electoral roll will be published on July 4. Complaints and claims can be submitted between July 4 and August 4, after which authorities will undertake verification and disposal of appeals until September 2. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on September 6.
