Churachandpur: The Churachandpur District Hospital was reportedly vandalised and set on fire by unidentified miscreants on Wednesday night, triggering panic among patients and healthcare workers.
According to reports, the attack primarily targeted the hospital’s Operating Theatre (OT) section, causing damage to parts of the facility.
The incident comes a day after three injured Kuki individuals were transferred from Imphal to the district hospital for further treatment on Tuesday midnight, raising concerns over the safety and security of patients and medical staff.
Sources said that certain groups had expressed dissatisfaction over the transfer and admission of the injured individuals to the healthcare facility. However, it remains unclear whether the incident was directly linked to their admission.
The exact motive behind the attack is yet to be established. No casualties have been reported so far.
Authorities had not issued an official statement on the incident at the time of filing this report.
