Aizawl: The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) on Wednesday hosted the North East CSR Connect 2025 at The Lalit Hotel, New Delhi, with Mizoram Minister of State for Sports & Youth Services, Tourism, Excise & Narcotics, and LESDE Department, Lalnghinglova Hmar, as a Guest of Honor.

Speaking at the inaugural session, the Minister highlighted that Mizoram, being a small state with limited population, often receives very little share of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. “Despite our size, Mizoram is a state that truly needs CSR support. Investment opportunities may appear limited, but the impact of CSR here is far greater. I urge corporates to look towards Mizoram and the Northeast to drive real development through CSR initiatives,” he said.

The Minister also noted that Mizoram has already established a well-functioning CSR Cell under the Chief Minister’s Office, making it easier for corporates to engage in projects with transparency and accountability. He announced that the state is planning to host a Mizoram CSR Connect conclave in collaboration with CII to further attract CSR investments directly into the state.

He stressed that Mizoram is actively creating avenues in sports and skill development where CSR partnerships can play a transformative role, calling on corporates to support these initiatives for the benefit of youth.

Union Minister for DoNER, Jyotiraditya Scindia, also addressed the gathering through a video message, while CII highlighted the theme “CSR Investment in Northeast India: Understanding Barriers and Way Forward.”

The event featured thematic sessions on “Corporate Best Practices: Driving Scalable CSR in the Northeast” and “NGO Capacity Building: Compliance, Accessing CSR Funding & Strengthening Partnerships.” Delegates from Northeast states presented their CSR priority areas, with Mizoram represented by Pu Henry C. Lalrawnkima, Secretary of Mizoram State Sports Council.

This year’s conclave marks the second edition of the CSR Connect initiative, the first having been held in July 2024 at New Delhi.
