Shillong: The Durand Cup Organising Committee has announced a change in the venue and date for the highly anticipated semifinal match between Northeast United FC and Shillong Lajong FC.

The match will now be held on Monday, August 26, at 5:30 PM at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong.

This decision comes after thrilling performances in the quarterfinals, where both Northeast United FC and Shillong Lajong FC secured victories, sparking significant excitement and anticipation among their supporters.

In response to numerous requests from fans and in recognition of Shillong’s historical support for these teams, the organisers have opted to relocate the semifinal to Shillong. The match, originally scheduled for an alternative venue, has been rescheduled by one day to August 26.

The move is intended to enhance the fan experience, allowing supporters to enjoy the match in an environment rich with their teams’ football traditions. The Organising Committee believes that this change will create a more vibrant atmosphere and provide both teams with the enthusiastic support they deserve as they vie for a place in the final.

In a press release, the Organising Committee expressed gratitude to the Department of Sports of the Government of West Bengal for their understanding and support, and extended thanks to the football fans for their cooperation and enthusiasm. “We look forward to a thrilling semifinal that truly reflects the spirit of the Durand Cup,” the release stated.

The 133rd IndianOil Durand Cup features all 43 matches broadcast live on the Sony Sports Network (Sony Sports Ten 2 HD & SD, Sony Sports Ten 3 HD & SD) and livestreamed on the SonyLiv OTT platform. Both English (Sony Sports Ten 2) and Hindi (Sony Sports Ten 3) commentary will be available for viewers.
