Shillong: Following the success of last year’s overseas nursing job fair, the Meghalaya government is set to host another job fair in Tura on July 26, this time extending opportunities across multiple industries.
Organised by the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS) under the Labour Department, the fair aims to provide placements abroad in sectors including healthcare, hospitality, sales, customer care, event management, retail management, manufacturing, aviation, IT, construction, and logistics.
MSSDS Executive Director, IAS, Ramkumar S., informed EastMojo on Monday that over 1,000 registrations have been received since the advertisement was posted. This year, the job fair will offer opportunities in countries such as the UK, Japan, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and various European nations.
Ramkumar revealed that another job fair is planned for Shillong in the first week of August. “The response has been overwhelming and people are willing to go out and work abroad. We want to make this bigger and better. By the end of this year, we aim to reach 100 people working abroad and maybe next few years in thousands,” stated Ramkumar.
