Shillong: During the early hours of Wednesday, a disturbing incident unfolded at the Mawlai Police Station in Shillong, Meghalaya, as five unidentified miscreants launched a petrol bomb at a parked police vehicle.
The attack resulted in significant damage to the vehicle, prompting an immediate investigation by the Meghalaya police.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (SP), Rituraj Ravi, informed that the attack occurred on the morning of April 3 at around 02:40 AM. The assailants infiltrated the parking area of the Mawlai Police Station and targeted a Police Gypsy Vehicle, identified by its registration number ML02-0194.
The petrol bomb ignited upon impact, causing extensive damage to the vehicle.

“In this connection, a case has been registered at Mawlai P.S vide case no. 35(04)2024 u/s120B/307/427/436/34 IPC R/W Sec. 3 of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908 and Section 4 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984. The investigation in the case is under progress,” informed the SP.
The investigation into the attack is currently underway.
