Shillong: Following the grand entry of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Meghalaya last November, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), headed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, is all set to enter Meghalaya.
With Meghalaya Assembly polls less than a year away, AAP sources told EastMojo that the party is making inroads before the upcoming elections.
When asked if they have been able to woo any political leader in Meghalaya so far, the source said senior party leaders will visit Shillong this week on April 21 to assess the situation.
At present, the AAP is busy campaigning in Assam.
“We are open as of now. We are trying to understand the political scenario in Meghalaya. We will meet with our local cadres and volunteers. We will try to understand the strength and limitations and accordingly decide. But we will definitely make our way in this coming elections,” the source told EastMojo.
The AAP has already amassed a cadre base in each district of Meghalaya, the source claimed.
The Aam Aadmi Party has, over the past few months, made a slow but steady entry into the Northeast. It won a few seats in the municipal elections in Assam and is contesting elections in Guwahati Municipal Corporation elections too.
