Imphal: A delegation of the Manipuri Cultural Youth Organisation (MYCO), Sylhet, Bangladesh, met Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th. Satyabarta Singh on Wednesday and discussed issues concerning the Manipuri community in Bangladesh.
The discussions focused on the socio-economic situation of the community, cultural preservation and support for the Manipuri diaspora.
Welcoming the delegation, Singh said he was committed to strengthening social and cultural ties between Manipuri communities in Bangladesh and the people of Manipur.
“Had a fruitful conversation with the delegation of the Manipur Youth Cultural Organisation (MYCO), Bangladesh, on cultural preservation and support for the Manipuri diaspora,” the Speaker said.
He stressed the importance of preserving Meitei traditions among the Manipuri community in Bangladesh and strengthening cultural ties across the border.
The delegation invited Singh to visit Bangladesh, which he accepted. He assured the delegation that he would make the visit at the earliest opportunity.
The meeting highlighted the shared cultural heritage of Manipuri communities in India and Bangladesh and the importance of continued engagement to preserve and promote it.
