Chandel: Dr Joram Aniya, Member, NITI Aayog, Government of India, who holds the rank of Union Minister of State, visited Chandel district on Wednesday as part of a field visit to review development initiatives supported by NITI Aayog and interact with beneficiaries and officials.
Dr Aniya was received by Chandel Deputy Commissioner Mamoni Doley and district administration officials at the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Komlathabi, where she inspected the health facility and reviewed infrastructure developed under NITI Aayog.
The visit included an inspection of the five-bedded separate wards for male and female patients, constructed under NITI Aayog during 2020–21.
She subsequently visited the District Training Centre and Library at Chandel district headquarters. A tree plantation programme was also held at the Training Centre.
The Training Centre, along with accommodation facilities, was constructed under NITI Aayog during 2022–23, while the library building was constructed under the 2021–22 programme.
Dr Aniya later visited District Hospital, Chandel, where she interacted with patients, doctors and medical staff and reviewed the facilities available at the hospital.
She inspected infrastructure developed under NITI Aayog, including the Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre with a dedicated ward and the Pre-Delivery Residential Centre for pregnant women. Both facilities were constructed under the 2021–22 programme.
At the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Chandel, Dr Aniya interacted with District Level Officers (DLOs) and received a briefing on various development programmes, including the Aspirational District Programme (ADP) and Aspirational Block Programme (ABP) in Chandel and Chakpikarong.
The NITI Aayog delegation included Salam Shyamsunder Singh, PS to Member, NITI Aayog; Samarendra Prakash Srivastava, Deputy Director General, DEMO, NITI Aayog; Rishabh Kashyap, Young Professional, NITI Aayog; and Ngayaipam Awungshi, Young Professional, NITI Aayog.
Dharmendra Kumar, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Chandel; Md Firoz Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chandel; Dr R.K. Radhesana Devi, Director (Planning), Government of Manipur; Dr R.K. Tombisana Singh, Joint Director (Planning), Government of Manipur; along with the concerned SDOs, DFO and other district-level officials, also accompanied the visiting team during the field visits.
