Lt Gen A. Raman-MM, MC, the newly appointed Longvibu of the People’s Republic of Nagalim/National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN/GPRN) Eastern Flank, has alleged that the 2019 operation that resulted in the killing of Arunachal Pradesh MLA Tirong Aboh was authorised by former Longvibu Anthony Ningkhan Shimray.
However, instead of taking responsibility, Shimray allegedly shifted the blame onto subordinate soldiers.
Raman claimed that the integrity of the formation and the chain of command within the Naga Army had been under question ever since.
He made the allegation during his felicitation programme at Mt Horeb Camp in Myanmar on July 29, 2026. Raman was appointed the new Longvibu of the Naga Army, Eastern Flank, by Ikato I. Chishi Swu, chairman of the Provisional Government of the NSCN/GPRN, on July 24.
In his address, Raman also accused the Government of India (GoI) of betraying the Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015, and suppressing the rights of the Nagas.
“The spirit of the Ceasefire Agreement ceased to exist from the day the GoI served the three-month ultimatum (August to October 2019) to the Nagas with the condition that there would be no more talks on a separate flag and separate constitution for the Nagas,” he said.
Raman further alleged that some NSCN/GPRN leaders at Hebron had succumbed to pressure from the GoI. Given the present situation, he said, the Nagas could now judge for themselves whether the peace talks had delivered the justice they deserved or whether the leadership at Hebron had weakened and eroded the spirit of Naga nationalism.
Stating that the peaceful political dialogue was being driven by force and power rather than justice and trust, Raman asserted that revolutionary patriots must continue both political and armed resistance to safeguard what he described as the sovereign existence of the Naga nation.
He said that when the leadership at Hebron succumbed to pressure from adversaries, revolutionary patriots must act fearlessly to reclaim what he called the sacred gift from God — the sovereign existence of the Naga nation. Raman urged Nagas to remain vigilant, saying the nation’s destiny had yet to be fulfilled.
“Today, our adversaries and our own Naga brethren who have compromised and surrendered to them surround us on all fronts to destroy us. Our adversaries, in collusion with our own Naga brethren who have compromised and yielded to their pressure, are ceaselessly conspiring to bring the Naga political issue to an end within the Union and Constitution of India, and to destroy the last bastion of Naga nationalism,” he said.
He also questioned those whom he described as Naga brethren working in collusion with adversaries to undermine the Naga cause. Raman asked whether they genuinely believed revolutionary patriots were acting against Naga national principles or were knowingly attempting to suppress those who continued to uphold what he called the national cause.
“The time to decide is now,” he said.
Raman also urged Naga soldiers and the public not to be discouraged by the strength of their adversaries. Instead, he called on them to fear the Lord God, who, he said, holds power over both body and soul.
“The Lord God is righteous, and the battle belongs to Him. Let us stand on the Lord’s side, and victory shall be ours,” he added.
