Six naga men killed

Imphal: In a strong reaction to the brutal killing of six Naga men by a Kuki group, the National Socialist Council of Nagalim/Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (NSCN/GPRN) has strongly condemned the incident.

In a statement, the NSCN termed the killing the “barbaric and grotesque mutilation” of the victims by “Kuki terrorist gangs and their frontal Kuki Village Volunteers”.

“These heinous atrocities are blatant crimes against humanity and a savage violation of human dignity that have no place in a civilised society. Even in times of conflict, universal moral norms demand absolute respect for the deceased,” the NSCN/GPRN stated.

The NSCN also alleged that the killings involved the “deliberate desecration of human bodies”, serving no purpose other than to spread terror, weaponise fear and inflict deep psychological trauma on grieving families and communities.

In the face of these cold-blooded killings and horrific acts of torture witnessed by the world, the NSCN demanded that the Government of India immediately outlaw these groups and formally proscribe them as terrorist organisations.

“The deliberate targeting of civilians, the use of extreme violence to terrorise the public, and the desecration of the dead constitute clear acts of terrorism by any global standard. Groups committing such depraved acts must be stripped of all political legitimacy,” it stated.

According to the NSCN/GPRN, failure to crush these organisations will only embolden further atrocities and destroy any chance of justice and peace.

The Naga group further called on the Government of India to act swiftly and decisively against these groups with the full force of the law.

The NSCN/GPRN also stated that Indian security forces allegedly “manhandle our womenfolk like ragdolls” for exercising their democratic right to protest, assault student activists, and forcibly disband village guards formed because of the government’s failure to safeguard the basic rights, security and dignity of Naga people.

The same forces, NSCN/GPRN said, are unwilling to prevent, and are accused of facilitating, the brutal killing of Nagas by Kuki groups that are widely perceived as their proxies.

“How can such actions be reconciled with the principles of justice, equality, and protection that the Government of India is constitutionally bound to uphold?” the NSCN/GPRN questioned.

The group expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and solidarity with all those affected by the incident.

The NSCN/GPRN also asserted that it would leave no stone unturned until those responsible for the killings are brought to justice.
