Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Saturday assured National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets that the government is committed to creating an environment where young people can thrive.
The Chief Minister was speaking during a felicitation ceremony for NCC cadets from the state at the NCC Ground, DM College campus in Imphal.
In his address, Singh said the seven cadets felicitated for their achievements have filled the hearts of the people of Manipur with pride and joy.
The cadets honoured included Cadet Senior Under Officer (CSUO) Swaty Laishram, Cadet Under Officer (CUO) Konsam Moramba Meitei, CUO Ningthoujam Pinky Devi, Senior Under Officer (SUO) Leitanthem Chanchan Devi, SUO Rojita Waikhom, Cadet Stephen Samu Sampar and Cadet P Silvester.
“We are here to celebrate a moment of immense pride for the entire state of Manipur,” the Chief Minister said.
He also congratulated the NCC Group Headquarters, Imphal for their relentless efforts in shaping the future of the state and said the cadets are the architects of a new Manipur that is peaceful, progressive and prosperous.
Upon his arrival at the NCC Group Headquarters, Imphal, the Chief Minister inspected a Guard of Honour. Accompanied by Wing Commander Mutum Sandip Singh, Commanding Officer of 1 Manipur Air Squadron NCC, he also participated in a flight simulator session at the unit’s headquarters.
The function was attended by Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency MLA Kh Joykisan Singh, DM University Vice Chancellor Dr W Chandbabu Singh, Brigadier Vikrant Kulkarni, along with NCC officers, staff and cadets. Around 2,000 additional cadets from districts including Churachandpur and Ukhrul joined the programme through video conferencing.
Later, accompanied by MLA Kh Joykisan Singh, the Chief Minister inspected Khunthoknganbi Upper Primary School and Gurukul Hijam Dewan Junior High School in Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency.
He also visited Naorem Birahari College in Khundrakpam, Imphal East, where he assessed the institution’s current condition and briefly interacted with the teaching and non-teaching staff.
Khemchand Singh later flagged off the improvement work of the Imphal–Saikul Road stretch from Hundred Flower School to Sagolmang at Khundrakpam. During the event, he assured the public that the project would be completed at the earliest.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) Chongtham Biswachandra Singh, along with officials of the department and contractors.
