In a fresh incident of violence, two persons were reportedly injured in a bomb blast at the Saiton-Nganukhong area in Bishnupur district on Monday morning.
According to police reports, a series of three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were triggered in the early hours of Monday, injuring two villagers.
The first two explosions occurred between 5.45 am and 5.55 am at an abandoned house belonging to Salam Mani Singh, 70, who is currently staying at a relief camp at Keibu Lamjao.
At around 8.46 am, another blast occurred nearly 200 metres away from the abandoned house.
During the explosions, two people, including a woman, sustained injuries. The injured have been identified as Soibam Sanatombi (52), daughter of late S Angoubi of Saiton Makha Leikai, and Nongthombam Indubala (37), wife of late N Bishworjit of Saiton Heiyaikon Maning Leikai.

Both injured persons were rushed to Bishnupur District Hospital for treatment.
According to the police, upon receiving information, personnel rushed to the spot and conducted an inspection. During the examination, a blast crater was found inside the house, along with blackening and splinter marks on the inner walls and floor, indicating the explosion of an improvised explosive device. The structure was found to be partially damaged. The area was secured, and necessary preventive measures were taken.
Meanwhile, following the incident, several civil society and student organisations, including the Indigenous People Organisation Manipur (IPOM), the All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU), Yelhoumee Kanba Lup, and other like-minded groups, have jointly called for a 24-hour statewide total shutdown beginning from midnight tonight, condemning the bomb attack in Bishnupur district.
