Manipur has recorded at least 2,332 dengue cases so far this year, with one fatality reported, according to an official update.
The cases were detected between January 1 and October 11 after testing 5,613 people for the mosquito-borne disease. This represents a significant rise compared to the same period in 2024, when 1,353 cases were reported — an increase of 979 cases.
Imphal West district has emerged as the worst affected, with 1,679 infections, followed by Imphal East with 363 cases. Bishnupur and Thoubal districts reported 68 and 63 cases respectively. The lone death this year occurred in Bishnupur.
Among the hill districts, Senapati recorded the highest number of dengue cases at 45, followed by Ukhrul with 23 cases. Churachandpur reported three infections, while Kangpokpi registered two cases.
