Imphal: As the nation gears up for the 18th Lok Sabha Election today, a total of 47 constituencies in Manipur are participating in the first phase of voting.

Of these, 32 Assembly segments for the Inner seat and 15 Assembly constituencies falling under the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency are casting their ballots in this phase.

Elaborate arrangements have been put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the electoral process across the 2107 polling booths set up in the state.

A total of 15,44,652 voters, comprising 7,41,849 male, 8,02,557 female voters, and 246 transgender individuals, are eligible to exercise their franchise rights in the first phase of the General elections 2024.

Recognising the challenges faced by internally displaced persons (IDPs), 85 special polling stations have been established in different districts to enable 18,091 IDPs to vote effectively and smoothly.

To uphold transparency and maintain peaceful law and order during the electoral process, adequate central armed police forces have been deployed across the polling booths in the state.
