Imphal: At least two persons were killed, and three others were injured during a fresh gunfight between armed miscreants at the bordering area of Kangpokpi and Imphal West district on Tuesday, according to the police.
Intense firing was reported from the Kadangband area and Koutruk hills adjoining at around 2 pm in Manipur.
The bodies of the deceased were identified as Meishnam Khaba Meitei (29) of Sagoltongba Mamang Leikai and Nongthombam Michel Singh (32) of Konung Leikai, palace compound, and were later deposited at the RIMS mortuary.
The three individuals who sustained injuries were swiftly taken to RIMS in Imphal for immediate medical attention and are reported to be in stable condition.
Following the outbreak of firing, residents of Kadangband, Koutruk, and Kangchup villages in the Imphal valley fled to safer locations.
