The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), in collaboration with the Press Information Bureau (PIB) and the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), on Monday held a press conference at the I&PR Auditorium in Treasury Square to address public concerns and raise awareness regarding LPG supply and distribution in Mizoram.
During the interaction with journalists, IOCL officials clarified that despite ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia and concerns about global LPG supply disruptions, there has been no impact on LPG availability in Mizoram.
They emphasised that the state continues to receive a steady supply and urged the public not to panic.
Officials highlighted ongoing efforts to streamline LPG distribution, prevent leakages, and ensure timely delivery to rightful consumers. They appealed to the public to avoid unnecessary panic booking or stockpiling of cylinders.
According to IOCL, Mizoram currently receives more than 8,000 LPG cylinders daily, catering to around 2.97 lakh households. Officials noted that this supply level remains consistent with previous trends.
Consumers were encouraged to adopt digital booking methods such as SMS and IVRS for convenience. Officials stressed that the Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) has now become mandatory, and no LPG cylinder will be delivered without it.
IOCL further informed that it is working in coordination with the Mizoram government to curb black marketing and hoarding. Special teams have been set up across the state to monitor distribution and take necessary action where required.
Officials also stated that stricter monitoring mechanisms are being implemented to ensure transparency in LPG distribution.
Reiterating that there is no shortage, they urged consumers not to create artificial demand by hoarding cylinders or placing undue pressure on distributors.
