Agartala: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Tripura on September 22 to unveil the redeveloped Tripureswari temple, Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Sunday. Speaking at the Neermahal Jal Utsav in Sepahijala district, Saha said he had invited the Prime Minister to the temple inauguration, and the invitation was accepted.
“PM Modi is coming to unveil the redeveloped Tripureswari temple on September 22 and offer puja there,” Saha stated. The redevelopment of the temple, a prominent Shakti Pith, was carried out under the Centre’s PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) scheme at a cost of Rs 51 crore.
Emphasizing the state government’s focus on promoting spiritual tourism, Saha also said that replicas of all 51 Shakti Piths are being constructed in Bandower, Gomati district, at a cost of Rs 97 crore. “Since the 51 Shakti Piths are spread across multiple countries, including Bangladesh and Nepal, people cannot visit all of them. Once the replicas are ready, visitors can experience all the Shakti Piths in one location,” he explained.
Saha also urged people to promote Neermahal, the lake palace in Sepahijala district, through social media. “I visited Udaipur and witnessed the beauty of its lake palace, which is comparable to our Neermahal. However, many people are not aware of Neermahal. I appeal to everyone to showcase its charm on social media,” he said.
Neermahal, built by Maharaja Bir Bikram in 1930, was declared a Ramsar site in 2007.
