Churachandpur: Just two days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Manipur, fresh tensions erupted in Churachandpur district on Thursday evening.
According to sources, a clash broke out between police and miscreants allegedly involved in vandalising barricades and decorations prepared for the reception of the visiting Prime Minister. The incidents occurred in the Pearsonmun village area and at Phailien Bazaar at around 7:40 pm.
Sources further informed that the site of the clash is located about 5 km from the Churachandpur Police Station.
Though the exact number of injuries has not yet been ascertained, footage that has gone viral on social media shows that certain properties were damaged during the clash.
As of now, no official statement has been released in connection with the incident.
