Assam down town University (AdtU) observed its 16th Foundation Day with a programme at the campus amphitheatre that brought together faculty members, students, guests and dignitaries.
The day began with a flag hoisting by Dean of Studies, Bandana Dutta, at the Bornadi Block, followed by the National Anthem and the university anthem.
The formal ceremony included the felicitation of guests and the inauguration of a documentary on AdtU’s milestones by the Chief Guest, Guwahati Police Commissioner Partha Sarathi Mahanta. In his keynote address, Mahanta shared his vision and observations with the gathering.
The cultural segment featured Borgeet, Bhortaal, modern songs, and traditional dance performances including the Boro Dance and a fusion piece, presented by students and faculty.
In their addresses, Chancellor N. N. Dutta and Vice Chancellor N. C. Talukdar outlined the university’s plans for the future and acknowledged the contributions of the university community over the years.
The Guest of Honour, Naresh Kalita, Editor of Niyamiya Barta, released the AdtU magazine and addressed the audience. Awards recognising achievements in student performance, faculty distinction, innovative teaching, research, long service, and staff contributions were also presented. Nearly Rs 50 lakh was distributed in recognition of contributions by research publishers, academic and non-academic staff.
