Kohima: Commissioner & Secretary of the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland, Anoop Kinchi, officially launched the Kilkari and Mobile Academy programmes to boost maternal and child health in the state.
On May 9, the officer launched the initiatives during a State Review Meeting held at the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare in Kohima. The meeting was attended by Chief Medical Officers (CMOs), Medical Superintendents (MSs), and other district and state-level health officials.
In his keynote address, Kinchi emphasised the importance of dedication to public service and urged all health personnel to remain committed to their duties, especially by being present at their respective postings. He noted that the ultimate goal of the department is to provide efficient and accessible healthcare services to the people. Highlighting the growing role of digital solutions, he encouraged health officials to embrace technology to streamline their work and better serve beneficiaries.
Shanpanthung Ezung, State Program Consultant for ARMMAN/Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), presented an overview of the Kilkari and Mobile Academy initiatives.
Kilkari is a mobile-based voice messaging service that delivers free, weekly, time-specific audio messages to pregnant women and mothers of children under one year. The initiative is especially targeted at rural and underserved areas to promote positive health practices and improve maternal and child health outcomes.
Mobile Academy, on the other hand, provides audio-based training to frontline health workers, equipping them with essential knowledge and communication skills to support families more effectively.
The review meeting also included presentations from CMOs and MSs on key performance indicators from various disease control programs. Officials discussed ongoing challenges, district-level concerns, and strategies for moving forward to strengthen the state’s healthcare delivery system.
