The Verdict [Misleading]
The original video, live-streamed on March 16, predates the violence in Nagpur and shows a protest in Delhi’s Ghazipur in response to a murder case.
What is the claim?
A three-minute video of a group of men calling for a boycott of Muslim-run businesses is circulating on social media, claiming to show the “decision of Hindus in Nagpur.”
In the video, an older man addresses the crowd, saying, “If tomorrow you become friends [with] them, no one will support you. If anyone does business with them… with murderers… then no one will support you. We hear a lot of times, that a Muslim person is friends with this guy, another person is doing business with our people… If this continues, the same situation will prevail. No one should befriend them, no one should do any business with them. Will you all agree with this?” The crowd can then be heard expressing their agreement with the speaker.
Kreately Media, an X account known for spreading misinformation, shared the post with a sarcastic Hindi caption, roughly translating to, “What is this that we are seeing? If this happens, Abdul will go to Pakistan.” At the time of writing this story, the post garnered 28,000 likes and 10,000 reposts. The claim emerged amid the communal violence that erupted in the western Indian state of Maharashtra’s Nagpur on March 17, 2025. The unrest was reportedly sparked by rumors that a cloth inscribed with Quranic verses was set ablaze during a protest by right-wing groups. These groups demanded the removal of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb’s tomb in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Multiple houses, vehicles, and clinics were vandalized during the unrest in Nagpur.
However, we found that the viral video is unrelated to the recent communal violence in Nagpur.
What did we find?
Logically Facts watched the entire video and found that at the 1:30-minute timestamp, another speaker in the video mentions a Mahapanchayat (big village gathering) in Ghazipur, Delhi. Similarly, at 2:25 minutes, the same person stated that the purpose of the Mahapanchayat is to seek justice for the murder of “Rohit Gujar,” claiming that only a few people have been arrested while others remain free.
A Google search about the case led us to multiple news reports stating that a 32-year-old man, Rohit, was murdered in the Ghazipur flower market on March 10, 2025. The Indian Express quoted DCP (East) Abhishek Dhania stating that the cause was a monetary dispute between two groups, which resulted in the firing of the accused. Two people, Nazim and Talib, were arrested in the case.
Furthermore, a reverse image search of the viral clip led us to a Facebook video (archived here) live-streamed by an account named ‘Sanjeev Bhati’ on March 16 — before the violence in Nagpur. This video matches the viral clip, and the Hindi caption states, “Rohit Gurjar was murdered in Delhi on March 9, 2025, by Jihadis living in Ghazipur Dairy Farm. The four main accused are still not arrested.”
The first 3:10 minutes of this livestream are now being misrepresented as Hindus in Nagpur announcing a boycott of Muslims.
We also looked into Bhati’s account and found multiple posts demanding justice for Rohit’s murder. Some of these posts can be viewed here and here.
Additionally, as stated in the live-streamed video, a Mahapanchayat was organized on March 23, 2025, in Ghazipur. The gathering reportedly aimed at seeking justice for Rohit and included several demands, such as the removal of Rohingya Muslims from the area and a compensation of Rs. 1 crore to Rohit’s family. The group also warned they would march toward Delhi if their demands were unmet by April 1, 2025.
The above evidence clearly shows that the viral clip is from Delhi and predates the outbreak of Nagpur violence. It shows people protesting an entirely different case.
The verdict
The viral video actually shows a protest in Delhi’s Gazipur, where people called for a boycott of Muslims after the murder of 32-year-old man Rohit. The video does not originate from Nagpur, as claimed in the viral posts.
