Sonu Nigam will begin his Deewana Tera Tour in Guwahati on December 14, 2025, marking his first solo live concert in the city. While he has performed extensively across India and internationally, his only previous appearance in Guwahati was at an awards ceremony, where he last shared a stage with the late Zubeen Garg, a moment he continues to remember.
Sonu Nigam said that starting the tour in Guwahati is a personal decision, as the city is closely associated with his memories of Zubeen Garg, whose passing had a significant impact on him. He recalled being struck by the collective response from Assam as people came together to honour Zubeen Garg, describing the affection and respect shown as something he had not witnessed elsewhere. He added that his connection with Assam extends beyond music, shaped by what he described as the warmth and emotional sincerity of its people, and said Assam is a place he would choose to be born in another lifetime.
The opening concert in Guwahati is expected to serve as both the beginning of the tour and a moment of reflection for the artist.

Northeast India has, in recent years, emerged as a centre for live music and cultural events. Concerts in Assam and Meghalaya have drawn national audiences, contributed to tourism, supported creative livelihoods and positioned the region as a destination for musical experiences. This has prompted some industry observers to refer to the Northeast as an emerging concert economy shaped by its natural landscape, youth culture and audience engagement.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently said, “I wish to invite Shakira to Guwahati next year or the year after. Such personalities must also be taken to Dibrugarh and Silchar.” He said the recent increase in live concerts across India has supported a cultural movement, broadened artistic expression and contributed to cities developing as creative centres. He also cited the example of Meghalaya as a regional reference point and observed that the natural environment of the Northeastern region has helped position it as a destination for musical events.
Following the Guwahati concert, the Deewana Tera Tour will move to Indore, Jaipur and Lucknow. Sonu Nigam will perform a set of his well-known songs in a curated live format, with the Guwahati show expected to stand out for its personal significance to the artist.
