Post Malone delivered his first-ever solo headline concert in India on Sunday, drawing thousands to the Khanapara Veterinary Ground in Guwahati. The show, produced and promoted by BookMyShow Live in collaboration with the Government of Assam, marked a notable moment for the region’s live entertainment sector, which has seen growing interest in large-scale international events.
The evening began with a performance by Kayan, whose set introduced the crowd to her genre-fluid style. Her warm vocals and mellow arrangements set the tone for the headline act, featuring tracks such as ‘Cool kids’, ‘Good kinda love’ and ‘Hold me down’.
During the concert, Post Malone paused to address the audience, saying, “I am grateful to be back in India and in Zubeen Garg’s homeland”. The crowd responded with loud cheers, with many recording the moment on their phones.
When the American artist took the stage, the atmosphere intensified. Wearing a white T-shirt featuring a graphic of the Indian map with the Taj Mahal and the word ‘India’ underneath, he appeared with a guitar over his shoulder and launched into a set that blended rap, rock, pop and country. His performance included major hits such as ‘Rockstar’, ‘Congratulations’, ‘Circles’ and ‘Sunflower’.

The concert production was designed to reflect global touring standards. BookMyShow Live deployed more than 300 intelligent lighting units, full LED and special-effects systems, and audio equipment intended to maintain consistent clarity across the venue. An extended thrust runway and stage layout allowed closer interaction between the artist and fans, while pyrotechnics and flame effects were used at specific moments in line with safety protocols.
Sustainability measures were integrated into the event, including plastic-free operations, waste segregation and upcycling, hydration centres and the reuse of rice husk cups. Leftover food is set to be donated through verified local partners. A dedicated Welfare Station staffed by trained professionals was also present for attendees requiring assistance, alongside support counters for lost items, child tagging, and water distribution.
More than 2,800 personnel, comprising Guwahati Police, private security teams, fire marshals and on-ground staff, managed venue operations. A unified Venue Operations Centre, monitored through over 100 CCTV cameras, coordinated activities in real time.
As the concert came to a close with phone flashlights illuminating the venue, the audience responded with loud applause. For many attendees, the event marked a major cultural moment for the Northeast and illustrated the region’s expanding role in the country’s live entertainment industry. With rising demand for international music experiences across tier-2 cities and emerging markets, organisers say the Guwahati stop is an indicator of wider shifts in India’s live music landscape.
