The first-ever Guwahati Comic Con concluded on Sunday after two days of crowds, cosplay and pop culture showcases, drawing more than 15,000 visitors to the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex. Fans from across the Northeast attended the event, which ran on November 22 and 23.
The festival featured comic creators, illustrators, anime fans and cosplayers, marking a significant milestone for the region’s growing pop culture community.
A session celebrating 45 years of Amar Chitra Katha set the tone on the final day, while new titles such as World of Butterfingers Vol. 2 and Where We Left Off, a comic centred on climate reality, were launched during the event. A Wingstar activity zone from Tinkle provided interactive entertainment for younger visitors.
Archie Comics artist Bill Golliher joined a live art and storytelling session, where he interacted with fans and fellow creators. A tribute performance dedicated to the late singer Zubeen Garg also drew emotional applause from the audience.
Stand-up comedian Anirban Dasgupta performed during the closing programme, followed by rapper EPR Iyer, who delivered a high-energy set that blended music with social messages.
The event wrapped up with the Guwahati qualifier of the Indian Championship of Cosplay 2026, where participants showcased detailed costumes inspired by anime, gaming and comic book characters. Cosplayer Arshy Deori, portraying the character Nikke, won the qualifying spot along with a prize of Rs 50,000 and merchandise rewards.

Comic Con India CEO Shefali Johnson said the debut edition showed the strong enthusiasm for pop culture in the Northeast, adding that artists, families and travelling fans helped make the event a success.
NODWIN Gaming co-founder and managing director Akshat Rathee described the Guwahati edition as a key step in building a long-term platform for creativity in the region.
With its successful launch in Assam, the Comic Con tour will now move to Delhi, where the next edition is scheduled from December 5 to 7.
