Guwahati: The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) has been recognized as one of the world’s top universities for the study of Data Science and Petroleum Engineering, according to the latest edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024.
Compiled by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a global higher education analytics firm, the rankings evaluate universities across 55 academic disciplines. IIT Guwahati secured a commendable global ranking of 51-70 in Data Science and 51-100 in Petroleum Engineering.
The institute’s overall performance in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024 showcases its commitment to excellence and innovation. IIT Guwahati achieved notable rankings in various disciplines, including:
- Engineering & Technology: Rank 210 (up from 222 last year)
- Natural Sciences: Rank 343 (up from 379 last year)
- Arts & Humanities: Rank 510-550 (first-time ranking)
Additionally, IIT Guwahati improved its position in several subject areas compared to the previous year:
- Chemistry: Rank 251-300 (up from 301-250)
- Biological Sciences: Rank 401-450 (up from 451-500)
- Environmental Studies: Rank 201-250 (up from 301-350)
- Economic & Econometrics: Rank 451-500 (up from 501-530)
The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024 employ five key metrics to determine rankings: reputation indicators based on surveys of academics and employers, citations per paper, H-Index, and international research network.
