Assam down town University (AdtU) marked World Diabetes Day and National Children’s Day by hosting a week-long Mega Health Camp Series from 9th to 13th November 2024. Organised by the university’s Faculty of Paramedical Science and supported by the Extension and Outreach Club, the camp aimed to boost health awareness and deliver essential healthcare services to school children and residents of villages adopted by AdtU.
The health camp series, held both on campus and in nearby communities, offered a range of free services including vision screening, physiotherapy assessments, nutrition counselling, dental hygiene check-ups, and blood pressure and blood sugar testing. By focusing on early detection and prevention, the initiative provided health screenings and guidance for approximately 200 villagers and 90 university participants.
“The camp series emphasised preventive health care, making a positive impact by providing essential screenings and personalised counselling to community members,” commented a representative from Assam down town University. The week-long event also served as a practical learning experience for AdtU’s paramedical students and faculty, enabling them to apply their skills directly within local communities while building strong community relations.
