Boko: The BJP South Kamrup Mahila Morcha, in collaboration with the Boko Mandal BJP committee, celebrated the 10th National Handloom Day at Chilarai Bhawan in Boko, Assam, on Wednesday.
Women from the Boko area showcased various handloom items at the event. The program featured BJP state Mahila Morcha president Sapna Baniya, Kamrup District Mahila Morcha President Joshna Kalita, and BJP Kamrup District President Anjan Goswami as chief guests.

National Handloom Day, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015, honours the rich cultural heritage of handloom weavers. More than 200 weavers from various villages in the Boko area participated in the celebration.
During the event, BJP Kamrup District President Anjan Goswami elaborated on various insurance schemes for weavers introduced by the central government. He explained PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, PM Suraksha Bima Yojana, and Mahatma Gandhi Bunkar Bima Yojana to the women and weavers present.

BJP state Mahila Morcha president Sapna Baniya discussed the Nijut Moina Scheme, introduced by Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to improve educational opportunities for female students and address child and early marriage in the region. The scheme aims to provide better access to education for young girls, supporting their continued studies.
The BJP Mahila Morcha felicitated ten women who exhibited their handloom products during the program.
