Maligaon: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of N.F. Railway successfully recovered 10 live endangered turtles during a routine check at New Jalpaiguri railway station.
On 17th May 2024, the RPF team at New Jalpaiguri station conducted a routine inspection on train no. 12507, the Thiruvananthapuram Central – Silchar Aronai Express.
During their check-in coach S-12, they discovered an unclaimed blue container. Upon opening it, the team found 10 live endangered turtles inside.

Following the discovery, the RPF team brought the container and its contents to their station.
After completing all necessary legal formalities and documentation, the turtles were handed over to the West Bengal Forest Department.
