Pm Modi feeds elephant at Kaziranga National Park

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on an adventurous journey at Assam’s Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve on Saturday morning.

The Prime Minister, during his visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, engaged in both elephant and jeep safaris, immersing himself in the natural splendor of the region.

Commencing his exploration, PM Modi first embarked on an elephant safari in the scenic Mihimukh area of the Central Kohora Range within the park.

Following this captivating experience, he further delved into the wilderness through a jeep safari, traversing the same range. Accompanying him on this expedition were park director Sonali Ghosh and other distinguished forest officials.

Later, the Prime Minister shared his experience through social media posts appreciating the rich flora and fauna of the national park.

“This morning I was at the Kaziranga National Park in Assam. Nestled amidst lush greenery, this UNESCO World Heritage site is blessed with diverse flora and fauna including the majestic one-horned rhinoceros,” he posted on X.

The Prime Minister commenced his journey to Kaziranga with an arrival on Friday evening, marking the beginning of his two-day visit to the state.

Appealing the tourists to visit Kaziranga, the Prime Minister wrote: “I would urge you all to visit Kaziranga National Park and experience the unparalleled beauty of its landscapes and the warmth of the people of Assam. It’s a place where every visit enriches the soul and connects you deeply with the heart of Assam.”

He also interacted with the team of women forest guards who working relentlessly for wildlife conservation.

“Interacted with Van Durga, the team of women forest guards who are at the forefront of conservation efforts, bravely protecting our forests and wildlife. Their dedication and courage in safeguarding our natural heritage is truly inspiring,” another post on X reads.

He also fed elephants and spent time with the animals. “Feeding sugar cane to Lakhimai, Pradyumna and Phoolmai. Kaziranga is known for the rhinos but there are also large number of elephants there, along with several other species.”

In continuation of his itinerary, PM Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the 125-ft high ‘Statue of Valour’ honouring the legendary Ahom general, Lachit Barphukan, in Jorhat during the afternoon.

Following this event, he will proceed to Meleng Meteli Pothar, also situated in the Jorhat district, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of various central and state projects, collectively valued at approximately Rs 18,000 crore.
