The Tata Group is on track to set up a semiconductor packaging plant in Assams at an investment of Rs 25,000 crore. The plant is expected to create a positive environment for industrialisation in the state, said State Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar.
“Assam is soon going to have a Rs 25,000 crore semiconductor packaging plant. It is a proposal from Tata that had to be evaluated,” Chandrasekhar said on February 15. He added that if the proposal is approved, it will be a major investment for the state.
Earlier, reports said that the Tata Group had submitted an application for setting up an electronic centre at Jagiroad, which is around 55 kilometres from Guwahati.
