Guwahati: The National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS) today proudly honored five of its alumni who successfully summited Mount Everest, bringing immense pride to the institute and the nation.

The recently felicitated Everest climbers include Kabak Yano (2024), Tagit Sorang Abraham (2021), Tashi Yangjom (2021), Tongchen Nimsonga (2018), and Dorjee Khandu (2018). The ceremony was led by Colonel Ranveer Singh Jamwal, a renowned mountaineer and the current Director of NIMAS.
Addressing an audience of 120 students from Basic Mountaineering Course Ser No-48, Jamwal expressed his admiration for the climbers’ remarkable achievements and dedication. He emphasised the importance of perseverance, resilience, and the spirit of adventure that NIMAS instills in its trainees.

“We are immensely proud of our alumni who have summitted the world’s highest peak. Their accomplishments are a testament to their hard work, determination, and the rigorous training provided by NIMAS,” said Jamwal.
“I have no doubt that our future graduates will continue to uphold the legacy of excellence and make significant contributions to the field of mountaineering,” he added.
Jamwal wished all the graduating students of Basic Mountaineering Course Ser No-48 the very best in their future endeavors. He highlighted the importance of the comprehensive training provided by NIMAS, which prepares students for the challenges of high-altitude climbing and beyond.
