Agartala: Senior Minister in Tripura cabinet Ratan Lal Nath on Saturday said that state’s Gross Domestic Product has witnessed an exponential spike under the BJP rule and described the development as a result of positive policy decisions of the incumbent government.
Speaking at a meeting of Tripura State Secretariat employees body, Nath said, “All of us should be aware of how Tripura gained financial stability under the BJP led coalition government.
The GSDP of the state stood at Rs 43,716 crore in the fiscal years 2017-2018 and now it has reached Rs 91,224 crore. The figures draw the right picture of Tripura’s development and progress.
The Per capita income of Tripura also increased substantially over the years. While it was Rs 1.04 lakh some years back it has now reached Rs 1.74 lakh in the last financial year.” Nath attributed state’s economic progress to robust performance in three key sectors:
Primary Sector such as agriculture and allied activities which has recorded a growth of 47.87%, secondary sector including industry and manufacturing which registered a growth of 9.34%, and the tertiary sector which primarily comprised of services. In this sector a growth of 42.79% was witnessed.
The Minister also asserted that whole country has witnessed tremendous acceleration in the economy. “In the fiscal year 2023-24, India’s GDP growth outpaced bigger economies. While our country recorded a growth of 8.2%, the bigger economies like China, United States, Russia and Japan struggled to mantain their growth rate.”
