Agartala: Security arrangements have been tightened near Akhaura integrated Check Post, Agartala as Bangladesh Nationalist Party launched a long march towards Tripura borders.
Heavy deployment of Tripura State Rifles, CRPF and Border Security Force personnel was seen in the borders.
Speaking on the security arrangements, Superintendent of Police West Tripura Dr Kiran Kumar K said, “For the past one week, the security arrangements had been tightened in the areas near the borders. TSR, Tripura Police and BSF personnel are patrolling in coordinated manner to ensure that the borders remain protected.”
As the extra precaution for the BNP long march, he said, “We are closely monitoring the situation. We are also in touch with the BSF who are sharing updates on the situation in the borders. Extra forces from CRPF and TSR had been deployed near the border areas.”
Apart from that Indian civilians also gathered near the check post to greet the Bangladeshi protestors with sweets. They said that they would offer sweets to the protestors arriving from the Bangladesh side to ensure that bitterness between both the countries could be mitigated.
One of the Indian nationals gathered in front of the check post, said, “Doesn’t matter what Bangladeshi nationals feel about us, we shall always be kind and helpful towards them.” Another person, cautioned that the Bangladeshi nationals will get the treatment like guests until and unless they don’t violate the mutual respect between the people of two nations.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) called a long march protesting the attack on the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission located here in Agartala.
