In response to the severe flooding caused by continuous heavy rainfall in Tripura, the 1st Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been actively conducting a large-scale flood rescue operation since August 20, 2024. The operation is focused on delivering immediate aid and relief to the communities most affected by the floods.
Eleven teams of highly trained rescue personnel, equipped with advanced boats, deep diving sets, and life-saving equipment, have been deployed to the areas hit hardest by the floods. As of August 23, 2024, these efforts have led to the successful evacuation of 1,479 people from flood-affected regions. In addition to rescue operations, NDRF teams are also supporting district administrations in distributing essential relief materials to ensure that necessary supplies reach those in need.
