Agartala: In a breakthrough, Tripura police on Saturday night caught a human trafficking network kingpin who was listed in the National Investigation Agency wanted list.
The NIA announced a reward of rupees one lakh for the accused identified as Hannan Mia. Soon after his arrest, a three-member team of the National Investigation Agency rushed to Tripura from Assam to secure a transit remand.
The remand was subsequently granted and the accused person was shifted to Guwahati with a local court order so that he could be produced before the special NIA court.
Speaking to reporters, OC Bishalgarh police station Rana Chatterjee said, “Police officials of Bishalgarh police station have arrested Hannan Mia from Rastar Matha area of Bishalgarh.
He hails from the Motinagar area under the Sepahijala district of Tripura. We have been searching for him ever since the NIA announced his name. A total of rupees one lakh reward was announced for him. We have been tracking him ever since the NIA had launched comprehensive drives to break the human trafficking nexus active in the border areas of India and Bangladesh.”
