Guwahati: The CPI(M)-Congress backed ‘Save Constitution Forum’ emerged victorious in the elections of the Tripura Bar Association, defeating the BJP-Tipra Motha panel ‘Aainjebi Unnayan Mancha’.

The Tripura Bar Association stands as the largest lawyers body in the state.

Mrinal Kanti Biswas from the Congress and Koushik Indu from the CPI(M), contesting under the banner of Save Constitution Forum, secured the positions of president and secretary of the Tripura Bar Association in the elections held on Sunday.

The result was announced by Returning Officer Sandeep Dutta Chowdhury on Monday.

Congratulating the victory of the Save Constitution Forum, CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury emphasised the broader significance of the outcome. He asserted that beyond a mere election of legal professionals, the results symbolise the concerns and insecurities felt by Indian citizens under the current ruling dispensation.

Chaudhury interpreted the verdict as a clear indication of the collective will of the masses ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
