Agartala: Two days after Slogans of “Biplab hatao, BJP bachao” were raised by the supporters of dissenting leaders during the visit of state in-charge (prabhari) Vinod Sonkar, chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb said, “I will take the verdict of the people and leave the state if people of Tripura ask me to.”
In a press conference, Deb said that on December 13, Sunday, he would meet people in Astabal ground, now Swami Vivekananda Maidan, and ask them if they want his removal or not.
“I will speak to people on Sunday, starting at 2 pm and ask them about their opinion. I will take their verdict and forward the report to the party high command and let them decide,” Deb said.

He also said that the recent slogans against him hurt him and he would not tolerate any irregularities within the party.
“I want to work, and that could be the only mistake I have made. I have been working following the Modi mantra. This government does not work with the old system that was followed for years. People here have the least idea of Modi system,” Deb added.
Speaking further, he said that his government would not compromise with the mafia raj, extortion system in the state and maintain that his only aim is the development of the state and generating employment for the youths.

The rebel MLAs including the former health minister Sudip Roy Barman, Ram Prasad Paul, Asish Kumar Saha, Sushanta Chowdhury met with Sonkar and apprised him about the state political and organisational situation.
Earlier, the dissident MLAs also met with the party chief JP Nadda in New Delhi and later with the NEDA convener Himanta Biswas Sharma to reprise the demand to change the leadership in the state.
