Uttar Pradesh’s promising middle-order batter Mohammad Amaan has been named captain of India’s squad for the upcoming 50-over ACC Under-19 Asia Cup, set to take place later this month in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). India’s first match in the tournament will be a high-stakes encounter against Pakistan, scheduled for 30 November at the Dubai International Stadium. Joining Amaan are several talented young players who have impressed in the domestic circuit, including Ayush Mhatre from Mumbai, Bihar’s Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, C Andre Siddarth from Tamil Nadu, Kerala’s leg-spinner Mohammed Enaan, and Karnataka’s batting talents Hardik Raj and Samarth Nagaraj.
The tournament is structured with two groups: Group A includes India, Pakistan, Japan, and hosts UAE, while Group B will feature Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal. In preparation for the tournament, India will face Bangladesh in a practice match on 26 November in Sharjah, giving the squad a chance to fine-tune their performance before their official opener.
India’s journey through the group stage will culminate in the semifinals, scheduled for 6 December, with the final match set for 8 December. The team’s lineup, featuring players with impressive records in their respective states, reflects a balance of skill and depth in batting, bowling, and wicket-keeping. In addition to the travelling squad, several non-travelling reserves—Sahil Parakh, Naman Pushpak, Anmoljeet Singh, Pranav Raghavendra, and D Dipesh—have also been selected to bolster the team’s strength.
