Assam lawn bowlers bag medals at Asian Championships

At the 15th Asian Lawn Bowls Championships held in Pattaya, Thailand, which culminated on Sunday, March 11, Nayan Moni Saikia, Bangita Hazarika, and Biswajeet Khound were among the medalists representing India.

Lawn bowlers Nayan Moni Saikia and Bangita Hazarika won gold and bronze medals in the women’s pairs and men’s fours categories, respectively.

A bronze medal in the women’s fours was won by Manu Pal, Jaya, and Rupa Rani Tirkey. This was also the first time that Biswajit Khound, who is from Assam, had won two bronze medals in men’s singles and men’s triples.

The Indian team was well represented at the event, with four players, including debutant Bitupan Rabha, showcasing their skills on the international stage.

Though Bittu Das and Karina Patowary from Assam were part of the four-member under-15 India team for the U-25 Asian Championships 2024, they were unable to bring home any medals in their maiden international appearance.
