Gangtok: Chief Minister Prem Singh Golay on Tuesday announced that Chief Justice of India Surya Kant will visit Sikkim on May 1 and 2 to attend a national-level conference on information technology.
Announcing the programme, Golay said, “It is a matter of great happiness for us that the Chief Justice of India is coming to Sikkim. A national-level conference on information technology will be held, and his presence makes it a very significant programme for the state. I thank him for choosing Sikkim for this important event.”
The conference is expected to bring together members of the judiciary and other stakeholders to deliberate on the role of technology in strengthening judicial systems.
The Chief Minister also informed that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will visit Sikkim from May 1 on a three-day tour.
“On May 1, the Finance Minister will visit Soreng district and attend an official programme. She will also travel to Gnathang village in Pakyong district under the Vibrant Village Programme, interact with local communities, and review development works,” Golay said.
According to the itinerary shared by the Chief Minister, Sitharaman will visit Soreng, an aspirational district, before proceeding to Gnathang village, where she will assess ongoing initiatives under the Vibrant Village Programme.
She is also expected to hold meetings with stakeholders during her visit to review the implementation of development schemes and gather feedback at the grassroots level.
