Gangtok: In a tragic road mishap, five tourists hailing from Maharashtra and a local taxi driver lost their lives in a road accident at Khedung, near Lachung in Sikkim‘s Mangan district.
The vehicle in which they were travelling met with an accident around 8 pm on Saturday at Khedung cliff, some 13 kilometre downhill from Lachung.
The deceased have been identified as Suresh Punamiya, Toral Punamiya, Devanshi Punamiya, Hiral Punamiya and Jayam Parmar. The driver has been identified as Somi Biswakarmathe.
Lachung Police Station has recovered the bodies from the accident site and has initiated further proceedings in the case.
