Assam, Mizoram chief ministers commit to resolve border dispute

Guwahati: With regard to the longstanding border conflict between Assam and Mizoram, the Chief Ministers of the neighboring states met in Guwahati on Friday to address the issue.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Mizoram CM Lalduhoma assured to make concerted efforts to find a resolution to the border dispute during this crucial meeting.

Assam CM Sarma assured his Mizoram counterpart, Lalduhoma, that once the ongoing Assam state assembly session concludes, he will dispatch his minister responsible for boundary matters to Aizawl. This step aims to advance the border discussions, which have faced significant challenges thus far.

Both chief ministers have demonstrated a commitment to peace and dialogue, engaging in multiple rounds of talks to maintain peace along the interstate boundary. The meeting in Guwahati is seen as a continuation of these efforts, with the goal of achieving a political resolution to the border issues and preventing future conflicts.
