Guwahati: As a part of the Government of India’s Digital India initiative, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is intensifying its efforts to promote cashless transactions.
Indian Railways, in alignment with the government’s policy, has been enhancing digital transactions by introducing cashless counters at selected Passenger Reservation Systems, facilitating digital payment modes.
This initiative has gained popularity among passengers, with a noticeable increase in cashless transactions over recent days.
In the Northeast Frontier Railway region, the amount of cashless transactions has shown a steady rise, reflecting passengers’ growing preference for digital payment methods. From Rs 1.8 lakhs (0.87% of total across-the-counter transactions) on January 30th, the figure has increased to Rs 3.78 lakhs (2.67%) on February 3rd, indicating a positive trend.
This improvement aims to facilitate payments through Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and Point of Sale (POS) systems.
