After a dry January, the weather forecast for the northeastern states of India is promising. The Indian Meteorological Day (IMD) predicts widespread rainfall and snowfall in the coming days.
According to the IMD, the change in fortune has arisen due to a combination of factors. The western disturbances are expected to bring moisture east, while cyclonic circulations over Bihar and South Assam are likely to contribute to the wet conditions.
The IMD predicts that the brunt of the precipitation will be borne by Arunachal Pradesh. According to the forecasts, moderate widespread rainfall or snowfall is expected over the next six days in the state. There is also a possibility of isolated heavy snowfall on February 2.
According to the IMD, scattered showers of rain are also expected for Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, and Tripura from Wednesday to Friday. The IMD has issued a yellow watch across the region urging residents to stay updated and exercise caution, especially in areas experiencing heavy rain or snowfall.
