Kohima: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on Monday condemned the killing of two Naga civilians at TM-Kasom village in Manipur’s Ukhrul district along NH-202 on April 18, 2026.
In a press statement, the Federation described the attack as “heinous and barbaric”, stating that the incident claimed the lives of Chinaoshang Shokwungnao of Tashar village and Yaruingam Vashum of Kharasom village under Ukhrul district.
The Federation termed the killing of unarmed civilians a direct assault on the dignity, safety and inherent rights of the Naga people to live in peace within their homeland, and described it as an existential threat to the community.
Expressing condolences to the bereaved families, the NSF stated that it stands in unwavering solidarity with them during this time of grief. It added that the loss of the two lives is a collective loss to the Naga people and that their sacrifice would not be forgotten.
The Federation demanded that the concerned authorities initiate immediate, impartial and stringent action against the perpetrators. It stated that any failure or delay in delivering justice would be viewed as a serious lapse in responsibility.
Further, the NSF cautioned that any form of aggression, intimidation or violence against the Naga people would not be tolerated under any circumstances, and warned against any recurrence of such incidents.
In solidarity with resolutions adopted by Naga civil bodies, the Federation also informed that a candlelight vigil will be held on April 23, 2026, at 6:30 pm at NSF Oking, Kohima, to honour the departed and reaffirm commitment to justice and the rights of the Naga people.
The Federation reaffirmed its commitment to stand at the forefront in defending the collective interests of the Naga homeland.
