IDE bootcamp launched in Guwahati to strengthen innovation in education

A two-day Capacity Building Workshop on Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship (IDE) for District Education Officers and DIET members began on Thursday at Assam down town University (AdtU) in Guwahati.

The workshop, organised jointly by the Department of School Education and Literacy, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), aims to strengthen district-level capacity in innovation, creativity, design thinking, and entrepreneurship. It aligns with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The IDE bootcamp, being held in collaboration with the Wadhwani Foundation, forms part of a national initiative covering 25 states and two union territories. The Assam event marks the first phase of the IDE bootcamps under the PM SHRI Schools programme.

The inaugural session at Assam down town University was attended by Dr (Prof) N.C. He said that students must not only be learners but also innovators capable of addressing regional and global challenges.

Nitin Kumar, Nodal Officer of the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, highlighted that empowering educators to think creatively is essential to building an innovative nation, in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat and Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The two-day programme includes collaborative activities, interactive sessions, and practical workshops designed to help participants understand the “why,” “what,” and “how” of innovation. Attendees will explore ways to integrate innovative thinking into education, encourage problem-solving, and develop strategies for fostering entrepreneurship at the institutional level.
