Kohima: Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, Y Patton, visited Wokha town on Friday as part of the ongoing GST Bachat Utsav campaign, engaging with local traders and shopkeepers on the impact of Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms.
During the visit, Patton distributed informative materials to shopkeepers aimed at simplifying the understanding of GST provisions. He highlighted that the tax reform, introduced under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has streamlined tax procedures, reduced operational costs, and created a favorable environment benefiting both traders and consumers.
Patton also emphasised that GST has empowered small and medium-sized businesses to operate with greater confidence while helping ordinary households save on daily expenses.
Interacting directly with shopkeepers, he listened to their experiences and views. The deputy CM’s office informed that many traders expressed appreciation for the Prime Minister’s leadership, noting that GST has made business practices simpler and more predictable. Several traders also conveyed their good wishes for the health and long life of Shri Narendra Modi.
The visit forms part of the state-wide GST Bachat Utsav campaign, aimed at raising awareness about the benefits of the tax reform and encouraging greater compliance among businesses.
